Create and experience alternate realities in the Immersion Studio

Do you want to see how X-Reality (XR) can help you learn, teach, create and transform? Explore the Immersion Studio in Alkek One on the first floor of the Alkek Library. Learn how to create your own content and use it in your projects or classes.

XR is the umbrella reference for all immersive technologies including virtual, augmented and mixed realities, plus whatever new realities that develop in the future. In X-Reality, you get transported to different environments where you can be thoroughly inspired. We have more than 20 virtual and mixed reality headsets, from consumer to industrial grade, that are free to all students, faculty and staff to use (just bring your current Texas State ID). We have all new virtual reality immersive experiences and the computers to run them at blazing speeds and vitality.

The Immersion Studio is open every Monday through Thursday from 8 am to 11 pm, with shorter hours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We offer several free, online workshops to help you get started with creating interactive experiences.
