We’re having a party because we can’t wait any longer to show off the Alkek Library renovations and all the things that can be explored, created and discovered in our updated library. Come by on Thursday, Sept. 2 anytime between 10 am and 6 pm and enjoy our #AlkekParty!
We’ll have many things to see and do:
- Be one of the first 150 people to complete a fun tour and passport activity to get a free t-shirt
- Take a selfie at designated spots in the library and post to Instagram using #AlkekParty to be entered into a drawing for one of these prizes:
– a Ninja Blender
– an Instapot
– a Bobcat tote bag filled with cool TXST gear - Get a free Tall Starbuck’s coffee at the Alkek Starbucks
- Participate in the activities in Alkek One:
- Play a data visualization game on the giant globe that will teach you about disaster preparation
- Learn how to fly a drone using a simulator on the big screen
- Interact with Google Earth on our giant touch table
- Play Beat Saber in the Immersion Studio
- Compete with your friends by playing Push Hero in the YouStar production studio
- See augmented reality in action on our Deep Frame
- Experiment with projective interaction
- See all of the MakerSpace equipment in operation
- Learn how to make buttons and stickers in the DesignSpace
- Take a great ring light selfie with your friends in the YouStar Studio
- Check out the Texas Music gallery with its interactive displays and cool nightclub vibe, and visit the Lonesome Dove exhibit and the other great art galleries in The Wittliff Collections.
- Join President Trauth in a celebration kickoff program at 2 pm in the Open Theater
- Sign our be-lated 30th birthday card and enjoy popcorn or cupcakes
