Submit proposals for Alkek One Student Gallery by October 18th!

Alkek One, in partnership with Common Experience, is accepting proposals for the next Alkek One Student Gallery competition!

The Alkek One Student Gallery is a place for student creations to be proudly displayed in the Alkek Library for all to enjoy. Located just inside the first floor entrance to the building in the Alkek One lobby, the student gallery is perfectly placed to showcase the innovative and creative work of Texas State students.

“This year, we really want to encourage a wide range of submissions,” said Tamarin Butcher, Digital Literacy program Coordinator for Alkek One. “That’s why we’re steering away from the word artwork in favor of creation. We’d like to see everything from two- and three-dimensional artworks to expanded media, to videos, to virtual reality products, to mechanical creations…really, the sky is the limit.”

Submissions should aim to reflect the Common Experience theme of COMPASSION and how it relates to Alkek One’s commitment to creative and emerging technologies. Submissions should engage with the concept of togetherness or collaboration as a facet of compassion.

“We would love to see some inter-disciplinary collaborations this year,” said Butcher. “We’re thinking of our theme as ‘with-ness,’ the idea of fostering compassion through working and being ‘with’ others. ‘With-ness’ can be represented in the creation directly, symbolically, or through the creative process.”

Review the Alkek One Student Gallery Submissions Form for more information on the requirements and to submit a proposal. Feel free to reach out to the Alkek One team at alkekone@txstate.edu for more information.
