Study or take a stress break at the library!

Whether you need inspiration to study or an opportunity to take a study break, the library has a space or event for you between now and the end of the semester. Sometimes you need a place to go to focus on those projects and final exams and sometimes you need something to do to de-stress and take your mind off things for a bit. Either way we’ve got you covered. Check out these end of year activities.

Long Night Against Procrastination
Join us for coffee, donuts and some serious focus time in Alkek 441-442 (Conference Halls A&B) on Tuesday, Apr. 26 any time between the hours of 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. This is a long night study session to hep you get stuff done! Set your goals and get support from library staff. Bring a friend and you determination to make serious projects on those exams or final projects.

Therapy Dogs
If you need a little cuddle time with a furry friend to help you get through these final stressful days, your libraries have you covered. Therapy dogs are coming to both the Alkek and RRC Libraries. Students on the RRC campus should stop by the library in Avery 255 on Wednesday, Apr. 27 between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. In San Marcos, come by the Alkek Library on Wednesday or Thursday, May 4 or 5. The pups will be located in the Open Theater on the second floor or on the fourth floor in the SLAC area.

Hidden Surprises
If your in the Alkek Library and you need to take a short study break, why not take a look around to see if you can find a golden ticket. Last year, the Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory movie celebrated its 50-year anniversary. To join in the celebration we’ve hidden golden tickets throughout our building. Explore your library May 3rd and 4th and see if you can find them. If you do, redeem your ticket at the second floor Ask Alkek Desk for a special surprise.  

Maker Day in MakerSpace
Maybe you need something more hands-on to help relieve some stress. We’ve got that too! Join us for Maker Day on May 5th in Alkek 102, better known as MakerSpace, between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. We will be making interactive Mother’s Day cards with micro:bit and using craft materials to create electronic greeting cards. We will also have all the traditional art and craft supplies for painting, drawing, collaging, sewing, different types of paper, simple bookmaking, and more.
