We’ve got spirits! Yes we do!!

With Homecoming and Halloween on the horizon, the Alkek Library has planned many spirit-filled activities over the next few weeks. Be sure to come by and get in the spirit with us!

National Transfer Student Week

Oct. 16-20 – Visit the Transfer Student Display. We love our transfer students and we’ve partnered with the Transfer Center for some fun activities. If you are a transfer student, you should visit the Transfer Center’s fourth-floor display near the staircase and be sure to check out our table for important information about library services and grab a Halloween treat while you are there.

Oct. 19, 9 a.m. to noon – We’re hosting a Transfer Student Trick-or-Treat event to celebrate transfer students and show off some of the great features in our library. Visit us at the table in the Alkek breezeway near the entrance and we’ll give you a ticket with trick-or-treat locations within the library.

Spirited Fun

Oct. 18, 6-11 p.m.Game Night After Dark is a fun event happening behind the big desk on the third floor across from the elevators. Take a study break or come meet some friends for the library game night! From board games to card games there is something for everyone, from beginners to experts.

Oct. 23-31 – Visit our Haunted Tea Party interactive display on the first floor between GeoSpace and the Immersion Studio. Take a selfie dining among the spooky characters. But watch out! The residents are very protective of their candy stash.

Oct. 31-Nov. 3 –  Visit our Dia de Los Muertos display on the Alkek second floor and join us as we honor the memories of deceased loved ones with ofrendas. Feel free to contribute in remembrance of your loved ones.

Homecoming Spirit

Oct. 22-28 – We’re all-in on the homecoming Office Decorating Contest. Check out our decorated door entry on the third floor across from the restrooms and see our Bobcat spirit on full display!

Oct. 26 – Homecoming Spirit Parade, 5:30-6:45 p.m. – Look for our golf cart in the parade! The parade route begins at the Housing and Residential Life building and travels down Woods Street concluding at Sewell Park where we will join in the Athletics pep rally.
