University Libraries (UL) is pleased to announce the reactivation of the Texas State’s subscription to Scopus. Scopus is the largest abstract and citation database of high-quality, peer-reviewed literature in scientific journals, books, and conference proceedings. It includes added functionality to identify research trends, locate potential research collaborators, and view metrics at the journal, document and author level.
Over the past few years, UL has had to make some difficult decisions regarding database subscriptions due to rising publishing costs. Last December, the subscription to Scopus was not renewed because there was significant overlap with Clarivate’s Web of Science. However, with Texas State’s emphasis on research and the run to R1, and UL’s new collection model which prioritizes access over acquisitions, we have reprioritized which resources could be supported with available funds.
Scopus is strongest in Technology, Life Sciences, and Biomedicine which brings balance to our other citation analysis tool, Web of Science, which is stronger in the Arts & Humanities.
The renewed subscription is effective immediately. Learn more about Scopus from our LibGuide and start exploring Scopus today.
