Have you ever wanted to develop your own video game? Alkek One is offering a Game Development workshop for Texas State University! The workshop is free and open to all Texas State students, faculty and staff, but the class is limited, so be sure to register as soon. This workshop will span over the majority of the fall 2023 semester meeting every Wednesday between Aug. 30 and Nov. 15. Participants will gain a wealth of knowledge, experience, and opportunities.
Students will gather in the Alkek One DesignSpace and work with peers in teams to develop a fully working game demo by the end of the semester, working both in and out of the workshop meeting time to achieve goals and make deadlines that will shape their game to completion. Participants will learn important aspects of game dev and by completing the work involved and will have the opportunity to earn several NASA-issued micro-credentials that demonstrate game development proficiencies. Some of these include programming with Unity, use of art & animation tools, understanding of audio software, and how to work as a team to make a completed product on deadline. Topics covered will include:
- Introduction to the Unity Platform IDE
- Introduction to C# scripting
- Models, Textures and Multimedia
- Visual UI, Art, Animation
- Audio Development
- Working with a Team
- Game Development Pipeline Basics
We are excited to have students who are interested in game dev join us in this amazing experience! Register today!
