Furry friends visit students during finals

Therapy dog programs are becoming more and more popular in libraries and on college campuses across the U.S. as research also increasingly shows the health benefits of animal therapy. While some universities bring dogs in at a particularly stressful times for students, such as finals or freshman orientation, others provide animal therapy as a regular part of their service.

Therapy dogs have been visiting the Texas State campus since spring 2013. During finals week in both the spring and fall semesters, students get to meet and play with furry friends from Divine Canines. The dogs are usually located on the second and fourth floor of the Alkek Library, and are available to play with for up to two hours at a time. Missed out on therapy dogs this semester? Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram to find out the next time they’ll be on campus!
