We love our campus family and this Valentine’s Day we are showing how much with some great activities happening throughout the day. We’re having an #AlkekParty in Alkek One with many great hands-on activities for you to do, games to play and fun to be had. And there are other activities happening throughout the library as well.
Here is a rundown of what you can do this Feb. 14 in the Alkek Library:

- Instagram giveaway – take a photo and post it to Instagram using the hashtag #AlkekParty to enter a drawing for a t-shirt, 3D printed heart gear, or unique prizes
- Valentine’s Day Cards making – use the laser cutter to make unique cards for the holiday
- Button-making – back by popular demand, come design and make your own buttons.
- Selfies – use a Valentine-themed background and send your selfie to show the love.
- Virtual Reality Games – how about some VR for VDay.

Love Display/Blind Date With a Book
- Check out Valentine-themed display of books that cover all things related to love including: Connection, Communication, Self-Love, Relationships and cultural topics related to love and relationships.
- Feeling adventurous? Go on a blind date with a book!
1. Locate the a manila envelopes containing books chosen by library student employees and staff located by the Ask Alkek Desk on the 2nd floor or the shelf on the first floor. The books cover a variety of topics and genres.
2. Read through the dating profile of the book within and select one that suits your mood.
3. Without opening the envelope, take it to a self check kiosk or the Checkout Desk on the third floor and use the barcode on the envelope to check it out.
4. Take it home and enjoy a good read!
5. Return or renew by the due date
